Three recent elections in Germany have shocked the German political caste

Following a massive victory in the state election in Saxony Anhalt round two weeks ago by the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), on 20 September the party had an equally impressive election victory in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and also did well in the city-state of Berlin. Equally prominent was the inexorable decline of the West German legacy political parties. An outlier was the victory of the Left Party (Die Linken) in Berlin, capturing a quarter of the votes.
Below you will find a state by state rundown of the elections results.
What has become clear in these three recent elections is that the voters are abandoning the established political parties: Christian Democrats (CDU), Social Democrats (SPD), Liberals (FDP), and the Greens.
One should note a couple of things. First, all three of these Federal States are in the East of Germany. Two and a half were part of the GDR, the missing half being the former West Berlin. Nonetheless, the tendencies that manifested themselves in the East are now exhibiting themselves in the West of Germany. It will not be long before the AfD is the strongest party in some Western German states. Second, there was a substantial increase in the number of citizens who voted, indicating that there is a very great deal of political disaffection with the current political situation in Germany.
There are a number of elements contributing to this radical shift. One of the principle causes is Germany’s economic malaise. The current coalition national government of CDU and SPD is introducing one harsh austerity measure after the other, exhorting Germans to tighten their belts and work harder. At the same time this regime is sending tens of billions of euros to the corrupt government of Ukraine and spending hundreds of billions for rearmament.
A large part of German society resents this. Germany may appear affluent, but that applies to maybe fifty percent of the population, if even that many. A large number of residents of Germany are getting by, however have no wealth such as a flat, house, stocks, and probably only have a few hundred euros in savings.
At the same time the government is unable to stop the economic decline and deindustrialisation of Germany. Due to the self-inflicted massive increase of energy costs (cutting off fossil fuels from Russia) – and they are currently spiralling out of control again due to the Iran war, which the German government supports – many factories in Germany have closed or moved to where energy is cheaper, such as the chemical giant BASF that has opened its largest factory in China. Germany’s vehicle industry that makes up ten precent of the German economy is descending into an ever deepening crisis. A shock for most Germans is the planned closure of a number of Volkswagen factories in Germany.
In the midst of this Germans are discovering how out of touch their political class is regarding the lives and needs of the average citizen. Then there is the endemic corruption of the German political class, which enjoys impunity. Furthermore, Germans are tired of being told by their political elite what to vote against, while being offered nothing to vote for. At the same time many Germans are discovering that their political elite is completely delusional concerning the outcomes of the Ukraine and Iran war. In both it claims victory is around the corner: for Ukraine in the one case, and the US and Israel in the other.
The current Chancellor, Friedrich Merz, has become the poster boy of this dysfunctional political caste (to understand Merz go HERE ). Never was a Chancellor so unpopular. Yet somehow he manages to become increasingly disliked every day. After the recent election debacles one would expect him to resign, as did Britain’s Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Instead he announced that what the nation needs is “Resilience, steadfastness, and patience” that only he can provide. It is no wonder that so many German citizens are despairing concerning their political caste.
Germans are realising that the democracy that they have been inculcated with is not a democracy at all. Every four or five years they vote for a party or candidate that does not keep the election promises they made. AfD supporters are enraged that their party is ignored in the political process, instead being defamed as enemies of democracy. The AfD has won the elections in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and in both are close to an absolute majority. Still, it appears they will not be able to form a government. In the past the AfD has used this fact very cleverly, depicting themselves as the victims of a political system hijacked by an anti-democratic political caste. In the case of both Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania all the other parties in those parliament will have to join together to form a government with the AfD alone in the opposition. Germany is looking more and more like a one party state. This will only support the AfD’s narrative.
The AfD has been just as smart with regard to the Ukraine war. Not only does it oppose the war, but wants to reopen the one Nord Stream pipeline that the US failed to destroy. I doubt the party leadership is any less Russophobe than other Germans, but they know that the tens of billions thrown at the lost Ukraine war are more relevant for most Germans than their Russophobia. One may call it populist, but the AfD is certainly offering the people what they want in this case.
While Merz and his government is trying to instil fear among its citizens of an upcoming war with Russia including introducing an armed forces draft and an imaginary anti-semitic conspiracy, Germans are more concerned with the real issues that effect their lives.
More important is that many White Germans are realising that Germany has become a third rate nation with a fourth rate elite. These Germans were socialised to believe that they are an exceptional and white race. The Master Race of just over 80 years ago was simply a manifestation of this element in their culture.
In the meantime Germany has become through immigration a mixed race society and many White Germans see this as the major cause of the current decline of their nation. The anti-immigration movement is not just racism as pundits claim, it is part of the assumption of what White Germans believe Germany historically stands for: white supremacy. What we are witnessing among White Germans is the desire to “Make Germany Great Again” and there is no room for dark skinned people in a “Great Germany”.
The decline of Germany has been the result of its elite, corporate and political. They no longer see themselves as Germans, having no responsibility to Germany society. They have become cosmopolitan, members of an entitled international caste that tries to stick its snout into any trough it can find. The political caste is so detached from German society that it is still in denial that they are widely seen by their electorate as dysfunctional failures. Merz is not an anomaly in their eyes.
The party that best represents both German fascism and its cosmopolitan approach, which it calls Trans-Atlanticism, are the Greens. They are in essence the AfD of the parasitic Professional and Managerial Class (MPC), the modern day Adolf Eichmann s , oiling the machinery of neo-liberal totalitarianism . They are Russophobe and Islamophobe. They support the war in Ukraine and the Zionist Nazi genocide in Gaza. They revile those Germans – about 80 percent – who reject their reign of authoritarian liberalism and the transfer of their wealth to corporations and the MPC itself. The Greens , o nce considered Leftists, lost a large number of voters in the recent elections who cast their ballots for parties that they considered Left.
Should the German political caste keep the AfD out of government in Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg – Western Pomerania it is the best thing that c ould happen to the AfD. Not only will it confirm the AfD claim of perversion of democracy by the reigning political cast e , but it will motivate more voters to defy the mainstream parties. Add to this the coming economic crisis and the inability of the German political caste to deal with it and we shall see a political landslide in which the AfD gains political dominance in Germany .
Like the MAGA fanatics in the US, the German Master Race will then discover that White Germans are not exceptional. To the contrary. These White Germans are as delusional as their political caste. One cannot turn back the hands of the clock – at least not without exceptional violence as we are currently witnessing with the Zionist Nazi genocide in Palestine. But then the Germans have form in this sort of thing.

In Saxony-Anhalt the AfD more than doubled its result obtaining 43.8 percent of the vote. Despite this impressive performance, the AfD is three seats short of an absolute majority in the state legislature. They would need a coalition partner and that will be difficult. With the exception of the BSW party led by the unfortunate Sarah Wagenknecht, the other parties have declared they would not enter in a coalition with the AfD.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania the story was much the same as the AfD also more than doubled its results landing at 38.2 percent of the vote casts. Here the AfD lacks four seats for an absolute majority in the state parliament.
The results of the West German legacy parties was pretty much a fiasco everywhere. In Saxony-Anhalt the far-right Christian Democrats (CDU), a party led by the failed Chancellor Friedrich Merz, lost over half its voters, most defecting to the AfD. The CDU had led the state governments for the past quarter of a century. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for the first time in its history the CDU will not be represented in a German state parliament, not even garnering the five percent of the vote necessary to be represented in that institution.
The Social Democrats received just under ten percent of the votes in Saxony-Anhalt, while it did receive round 35 percent in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania where it too had governed for nearly a quarter of a century.
While the Liberals (FDP) landed under three percent in both state elections and therefore will not be represented in either parliament, the far right Greens have maintained their presence, however as very small factions, although much sought after as a coalition partner.
In short all four of the parties together did not receive fifty percent of the votes cast.
In Berlin it was a similar situation, as the four legacy parties still again did not garner half the votes. The winner by far was the Left Party, doubling its previous result and obtaining one of every four votes. The CDU and Social Democrats who currently are the state government both lost a third of their voters. The FDP came in at 2.5 percent. The Greens lost over a quarter of their voters and landed in fourth place.
