My name is Mustafe Abdi Mohamed (Mustafe-Janaale), and I am one of the students who graduated today, October 1, 2026, from Alpha University—specifically from the Faculty of Journalism—with a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who provided me with assistance, support, and encouragement throughout my educational journey.

I extend special thanks to my parents—particularly my mother, Saafi Abdullahi Jama—as well as Nimco Abdi Mohamed, Sahra Hussein Ashqarar, Idil Ali Amakaak Cakal, scholar Jama Ibrahim Awed, Alpha University’s Director of Administration and Finance Hodan Ahmed Eman, and Khadar Mohamed Askar. I also thank my teachers—specifically the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Hamse Haji Mohamed, and the Deputy Dean, Abdalle Sheikh Mohamed Abdilahi—along with my friends and everyone who encouraged and supported me throughout my studies.

The success achieved today is not mine alone; it is one in which everyone who supported me played a significant role. I pray to God to reward you all for the kindness you have shown me. I also extend my gratitude to the Minister of Information, Culture, and Awareness of Somaliland, Mr. Barkhad Jama Batuun, and the Director General of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Awareness of Somaliland, Mr. Abdisalan Mohamud Du’ale.

Finally, I extend my congratulations to all the students graduating with me today, and I hope that we use the knowledge we have gained to serve our community and our country, and to build a bright future. Thank you all. I wish you success and progress.

My Reasons for Pursuing Education:

“I pursued my education to gain the knowledge and skills that would enable me to advance my country and my people. My goal was not merely to obtain a degree; rather, I viewed it as the path to building a bright future and becoming someone who contributes to society through their knowledge.”

My Motivation for Pursuing Journalism:

“I began my journey in journalism at a young age; it has truly become a part of who I am. Throughout my career, I have championed the voices of the unheard and advocated for freedom of expression, while striving to reveal the truth and deliver accurate, trustworthy information to the public.

This profession reinforces my calling; I have always had a passion for writing and believe that a journalist is not merely a conveyor of news, but someone who helps the community understand the events unfolding around them.

Therefore, I pursued journalism driven by passion, ambition, and a sense of social responsibility. I hope to use my knowledge and skills to foster community development, uphold the truth, and ensure that the voices of the people are heard.
