OIC Secretary General Holds Talks with the Minister of Somalia

On 3rd April 2008 , the Secretary General of the OIC , Prof Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu met in Jeddah with the Prime Minister of Somalia , HE Mr. Nur Hassan Hussein and his accompanying delegation . They reviewed the latest developments in the country .

The Prime Minister briefed the Secretary General on the priorities of his government and elaborated on the implementation of the political roadmap during the transitional period culminating in general elections by the end of 2009. He also explained the new all- inclusive reconciliation strategy being pursued by the Transitional Federal Government to achieve full reconciliation of all Somalis at home and abroad .

Prof Ihsanoglu, on his part, informed the Prime Minister of the various endeavors of the OIC in the peace building process in Somalia and assured him of the continued engagement and support of the Organization until normalcy is restored to this founding Member State.
