LONDON — A Muslim police recruit was subjected to racist taunts and ordered to shave off his beard, against his religion, an employment tribunal heard yesterday.
PC Zaheer Zamir, 28, claims that he endured repeated racist jibes, including being called a ‘Paki bastard’, whilst a probationer at a Metropolitan Police training college.
There, trainers are said to have cracked offensive jokes likening Muslims to sex toys and one senior officer is alleged to have ordered PC Zamir to shave in contravention of his religious beliefs.
