Withdrawal from the W. Bank to Start Sept. 4

Israel will reportedly begin withdrawal from four settlement units in the West Bank on September 4.

At a meeting with United Nations officials and international aid organizations, Fuad Halhal, an Israeli authority in the West Bank, told that the withdrawal would last for a week.

The army was concerned that the Jewish settlers might resort to violence towards Palestinians during the withdrawal process, Halhal said.

Israel will begin the pullout from the entire Gaza Strip region in mid August.

The Sharon Cabinet will meet on Sunday to approve the official timetable for the withdrawal.
