The Israel lobby won’t allow itself to be constrained by facts or reason in its attempts to support Israel and smear its critics – and the same applies to the latest attempted moral panic. Pro-Israel ‘mainstream’ media are amplifying a soon-to-be-published government report that claims at least 60% of Jewish children have faced antisemitism at school.

60%. That’s a lot. But only 30% – according to the Institute for Jewish Policy research – attend non-Jewish schools. Which means that, if the report is to be believed, half of the Jewish children ‘facing antisemitism’ are facing it at… Jewish schools.

Hang on a minute – something ain't right.

Of course, the report will demand “sweeping changes to protect”. These major on suppressing support for Palestinian rights and freedom. The changes will include forcing the completely-unfit IHRA propaganda (non-) ‘definition’ of so-called antisemitism, which is in fact designed to prevent and attack criticism of Israel, on schools. It will also demand school heads clamp down on “political expressions or identifiers” – which in practice will mean a ban on pupils and teachers wearing symbols representing Palestine and Palestinian liberation.

A history of histrionics

The level of exaggeration is unsurprising, given the new report was ordered by the Starmer government in response to the supposed ‘ scandal ‘ of an Israel-supporting MP being asked not to attend a Bristol school because parents didn’t want an Israel supporter around their kids while Israel is committing genocide and slaughtering or starving hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children.

But that’s not a narrative the UK establishment wants spreading, so of course it was presented instead, in full pearl-clutching mode, as Damien Egan being ‘barred for being Jewish’.

The school has already been found to have done nothing wrong – but again, that doesn’t suit the state’s preferred narrative – so a claim about ‘three in five’ Jewish children facing antisemitism sounds compelling. Right until you actually examine it, at least.

Antisemitism scam

The latest claim comes as Israel’s popularity in the UK hits yet more record lows, with Israelis now the second only to Russians as the least welcome immigrants. Committing genocide makes you unpopular, who’d have guessed? A constant stream of social media videos of Israelis abroad acting like they own whichever place they’re in don’t help.

So Israel must always be seen as the victim, no matter how much evil it does. Hence the well-attested inflation of ‘antisemitism’ statistics by including every expression of support for Palestinians or condemnation of genocide and Israel’s other crimes as ‘antisemitic’.

In reality, the number of antisemitic incidents in the UK runs at around 2% of the number of Islamophobic incidents. The UK has around thirteen times more Muslims than Jewish people, but Muslims suffer fifty times more hate. If Muslim and Asian hate crimes are combined, they are around 200 times more common. But again, that isn’t a narrative the political and media classes are interested in.

All of which raises the question: if half the incidents of antisemitism are in Jewish schools, are the children of anti- Zionist Jews being bullied and abused? It’s probably the only way the government’s latest moral panic makes sense and certainly fits more with recent history.

But even more likely is the new report being yet more confected, skewed nonsense to help the genocidal colony and its supporters avoid scrutiny and accountability.
