The name of Rubin Yusuf Al-Nunu emerged as one of the field commanders in the Radwan Battalion of the Gaza Brigade. The Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas Movement, documented his combat presence and career through a documentary highlighting the details of his participation in the confrontations northwest of Gaza City.
This documentation depicts the struggle of a field fighter who combined direct leadership with involvement in the front lines of engagement, leading up to his martyrdom while confronting the invading Israeli occupation forces in the Gaza Strip on October 31, 2024.
A field record in the heart of the confrontation
The filmed scenes reveal the role played by Al-Nunu within his combat group, as he participated in confronting the occupation forces that advanced into the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood.
The recording shows his presence within a complex combat environment, along with footage of military training he underwent before the outbreak of the war, reflecting a preparatory path linking training and field execution. This sequence provides an integrated picture of his transition from the qualification stage to direct combat action.
Decision under fire
The recording documents a crucial field moment bringing Al-Nunu together with commander Abdul Karim Al-Naffar, as a dialogue took place between them reflecting the assessment of the situation at a moment of engagement.
Al-Nunu reported the positioning of Israeli soldiers inside a school building, and identified the location of a tank on the outskirts of the area, before directing the use of a locally manufactured Al-Yassin 105 shell. This was followed by shooting by Al-Naffar. The footage shows the targeting of the site where the occupation forces fortified themselves, reflecting a pattern of field coordination based on rapid observation and decision-making under pressure.
The human dimension in the will
The human aspect is strongly present in Al-Nunu’s will to his mother, where he expressed his attachment to her and asked for her forgiveness, stressing that his satisfaction is dependent on her satisfaction. He called on his mother to be patient and rejoice his martyrdom, and asked her not to cry for him, but rather to deal with his departure as an event that falls within his combat and religious convictions.
Documenting the biography within a broader narrative
This release comes within the Aqmar al-Tufan series produced by the Qassam Brigades to document the paths of its commanders and fighters who were martyred during the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since late 2023. This series seeks to build a visual archive linking individual biography with the general military context, with a focus on highlighting field roles and sacrifices.
The biography of Rubin Al-Nunu reflects a model of a field fighter whose experience was formed between training and direct engagement, and between military decision and the personal dimension, in the context of an ongoing battle in which multiple narratives and documentations overlap.
