Israeli forces bombed a house in Gaza’s al-Shati refugee camp on Friday evening, wounding at least six Palestinians, despite repeated international condemnation over Tel Aviv's violations of the truce.
The bombing of the house, belonging to the al-Adham family, came following an evacuation order for the building and others in the area, spreading panic among civilians.
Sources on the ground told The New Arab that Israeli warplanes launched three missiles, two of which exploded, while the third failed to detonate.
The house was completely destroyed, and several near it were also severely damaged, the sources added.
Those wounded were transferred to the al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, with medics stating the injuries were related to the shrapnel from the attack.
This marks the first time since the October ceasefire that Israel has issued evacuation orders for homes before bombing them. Since the truce came into effect, Israel has carried out field assassinations or strikes targeting vehicles and infrastructure.
The Israeli military has increased its attacks on Gaza since the joint US-Israeli war on Iran on 28 February, while talks regarding the next phase of the truce with Hamas have largely stalled.
Hamas has repeatedly reiterated that Israel must abide by the terms of the truce before moving onto the next phase of the deal and fulfil its obligations regarding daily aid deliveries.
Since the October ceasefire, Israel has killed at least 846 Palestinians and wounded 2,418 others. In the same time frame, rescue teams have recovered 769 bodies from under the rubble, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said.
The latest developments come as the UN said that 40,000 Palestinians have been displaced in the occupied West Bank since the start of 2025.
The deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, said in a press statement that Israeli settlers had carried out house demolitions in the first week of May, resulting in 42 Palestinians being displaced.
In the latest string of violent settler attacks in the West Bank, a Palestinian man and his child were attacked with "sharp instruments" south of Hebron on Friday, later seeking treatment at the hospital for head injuries.
Israeli settlers also torched a home south of Nablus, while settlers stormed a village and burned a vehicle in Abu Falah, northeast of Ramallah.
The settlers also vandalised homes, writing racist slogans on the walls, the official Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.
Settler violence has surged since the start of the war on Gaza, with human rights group B’Tselem stating the Israeli military avoids confronting settlers as a matter of policy and enable the violence against Palestinians and their property.
