South African influencer and dancer Limpopo Boy (real name Matome Thoka Robert) is trending for the wrong reasons.
A supposed private and intimate video of him and Matilda Matshidiso was posted to his Instagram Story on the 9th of August 2026. Limpopo Boy has faced immediate backlash and scrutiny, and risks losing deals with Adidas and the Christian Progressive College, who are questioning whether he should continue working with children.
Viewers and scrollers were also just as quick to bash Matilda as they did Limpopo Boy, especially given that she got married last September. Some are quick to point out her hypocrisy, especially since she released a video before the scandal in which she made her husband apologise for cheating on her in a dream. Her only acknowledgement of the scandal thus far has been an OOTD (outfit of the day) video, which she ended with the line “I think I am going to be okay”.
Her husband, meanwhile, has deactivated all his social media accounts and has yet to comment.
Debate has been raging online, with some saying the video looked fake and calling it AI-generated; however, Limpopo Boy seemingly confirmed the authenticity of the video himself when he posted a statement on his Instagram account saying “I only discovered after the video was leaked that she was married”.
An earlier statement by him and his team following the immediate backlash of the scandal reads, “This content was stolen without consent and shared entirely without authorisation. This is a severe violation of privacy and a criminal matter.” This has been taken down.
