New Age Ultimate, a team from the genocidal apartheid state of Israel, is due to participate in the World Ultimate Club Championships at the University of Limerick from 15th to 22nd August.
New Age is a member of the Israeli Flying Disc Association, which has publicly supported Israel’s war on Gaza, organised tournaments for Israeli soldiers and includes teams based in illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
The Palestinian sporting boycott calls for Israeli institutions to be excluded from international sport because of their complicity in Israel’s genocide, apartheid and denial of Palestinian rights.
More than 1,000 Palestinian athletes have been killed by Israel since October 2023, including Muhammad Khalifa, a Palestine National Youth Team player who visited Ireland, staying in Limerick, with the Gaza Kids to Ireland project and visited UL Arena.
Two participating Irish teams have already pledged not to play against New Age. Campaigners are now calling on UL and UL Sport to refuse to host the event if New Age remains, and on Limerick City and County Council to withdraw its support and sponsorship.

Dear UL representatives, Mayor Moran, and members and officials of Limerick City and County Council,
I am writing to ask you to help ensure that New Age Ultimate is removed from the World Ultimate Club Championships, taking place at the University of Limerick from 15 to 22 August.
This is not a call to exclude individual athletes because of their nationality. New Age is an Israeli sporting institution and team members are highly likely to have served in the Israeli military and may have participated in war crimes in Palestine. New Age is a member of the Israeli Flying Disc Association, which has publicly supported Israel’s war on Gaza, organised tournaments for Israeli soldiers and includes teams based in illegal Israeli settlements.
The Palestinian sporting boycott call states that all Israeli institutions are subject to boycott unless they publicly recognise Palestinian rights and end their complicity in Israel’s violations of international law. New Age and the IFDA have not met these conditions.
Israel is committing genocide in Gaza and maintaining a system of apartheid against the Palestinian people. Since October 2023, it has killed more than 1,000 Palestinian athletes, including over 100 children, and destroyed hundreds of sporting facilities.
Among those killed was Muhammad Khalifa, a Palestine National Youth Team player who visited Limerick with the Gaza Kids to Ireland project in 2016 and 2017, played against Irish teams and enjoyed the facilities at UL Arena. Israel killed Muhammad and members of his family in December 2024, when he was just 20 years old.
UL is also home to Palestinian students from Gaza whose families remain trapped there. It would be profoundly wrong to host an Israeli institution while their people continue to be killed, starved and denied medical care.
Campaigners have called on the World Flying Disc Federation to disinvite New Age, and two participating Irish teams, Ranelagh Ultimate and XVI Ultimate, have already pledged not to play against them. I further call on:
* UL and UL Sport to call for the removal of New Age, and to refuse to host the event with New Age’s participation;
* Limerick City and County Council, as a council that voted to endorse the Palestinian BDS Movement, to withdraw its support and sponsorship if New Age is not removed .
Sporting boycotts helped isolate apartheid South Africa. Israel’s apartheid regime and ongoing genocide must be met with the same determination.
There is no place in sport for genocide or apartheid. Please act now to ensure that New Age does not participate in the WUCC in Limerick.
