Iranian attacks on Gulf states continued on Saturday, causing injuries and infrastructure damage across multiple countries as the US-Israeli war on Iran continues to escalate in the region.
Authorities in Oman, the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia reported drone and missile incidents, with several interceptions but also injuries to people and damage to ports, airports and industrial sites. Oman The official Oman News Agency reported that the port of the city of Salalah was targeted by two drones, injuring a worker and damaging port infrastructure.
A security source said the attack caused "moderate injuries to an expatriate worker" and limited damage to a crane at the facility.
"The Sultanate of Oman affirms its condemnation of these brutal attacks and is taking all necessary measures to preserve the security of the country and the safety of its residents," Oman News Agency said.
Later, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya military headquarters spokesperson, Ebrahim Zolfaghari, said an "American military vessel located some distance from Oman’s Salalah port" had been targeted at dawn.
Zolfaghari however claimed that Tehran respected Oman’s "national sovereignty". UAE In the UAE, authorities said six people were injured after missile debris fell near economic zones in Abu Dhabi.
The Abu Dhabi Media Office said emergency teams had controlled three fires caused by falling debris near Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi following the interception of a ballistic missile.
It added that five of those injured were Indian nationals and one was Pakistani, with injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defence said air defences were responding to an Iranian attack involving missiles and drones. Kuwait Kuwait’s National Guard said six drones were intercepted and destroyed over the past 24 hours.
Spokesperson Brigadier General Jadaan Fadel said the interceptions were part of efforts to "enhance security, protect vital sites, and counter potential threats".
Kuwait Airport was also targeted in a drone attack that caused significant damage to its radar systems. Bahrain In Bahrain, air raid sirens sounded for the sixth time in a single day, with authorities urging residents to seek shelter.
The Interior Ministry said civil defence teams had brought a fire under control at a facility "targeted by the criminal Iranian aggression".
The Bahrain Defence Force said it had intercepted and destroyed 174 missiles and 385 drones targeting the kingdom "since the beginning of the brutal aggression". Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia said it had intercepted and destroyed three drones in recent hours.
Defence ministry spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki also reported the interception of a ballistic missile launched towards the Riyadh region. Regional retaliation, escalation Since 28 February, Iran has carried out attacks across the Gulf following US and Israeli strikes on its territory.
Tehran says it is targeting US bases and interests rather than specific countries - all of the countries targeted by Iran contain US airbases or infrastructure it claims is vital to the US-Israeli war effort. However, the attacks have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports and industrial facilities, prompting condemnation from Gulf states.
On Wednesday, the UN Human Rights Council condemned Iran’s "heinous" attacks on its Gulf neighbours and called on Tehran to provide "compensation" to victims.
The 47-member body adopted a resolution submitted by Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan, demanding that Iran "immediately cease all unjustified attacks".
