GMO refutes Mladenov’s claims about entry of aid trucks into Gaza

GAZA, (PIC)

The Government Media Office (GMO) in Gaza said on Thursday that Nikolay Mladenov’s statements about the entry of 602 trucks into the Strip are inaccurate, lack credibility, and contradict documented facts on the ground.

In a statement, the GMO said that actual data for the day confirms that only 207 trucks entered, including 79 aid trucks. This falls far short of the required humanitarian response and does not reflect any “expanded access” as claimed. It also noted that compliance with the agreed number of aid trucks since the ceasefire began has not exceeded 38 percent.

The GMO added that “such misleading claims raise serious questions: Where is the so-called Peace Council vis-à-vis the daily Israeli violations of the agreement? Why is it remaining silent? And where is its commitment to the international community to help rescue Gaza amid a worsening humanitarian catastrophe?”

It stressed that falsifying facts cannot conceal the scale of the disaster and does not absolve any party of its legal and humanitarian responsibilities. The international community must act to save civilians from the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

On the other hand, the Gaza Center for Human Rights stated that Israel has spent six months systematically undermining the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stripping it of its practical value and reducing it to a symbolic framework that neither protects civilians nor ensures basic living conditions.

In a statement on Friday, the center said its field team documented ongoing Israeli violations through direct military attacks and airstrikes, as well as restrictive policies that worsen the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.

Since the agreement began, the center documented the killing of 743 Palestinians, including 205 children, 86 women, and 21 elderly individuals, along with 2,036 casualties. These occurred amid continued gunfire, bombardment, incursions, and demolition of homes, averaging more than 13 violations per day.

The center also noted that Israeli forces have not adhered to agreed withdrawal lines and continue to enforce control through firepower over areas estimated at 34 square kilometers outside the agreement zone, including what is referred to as the “yellow line.” This restricts civilian movement, endangers lives, and prevents safe access to agricultural land and livelihoods.

It added that Israeli forces have expanded the “yellow line” area by at least ten times over six months, effectively controlling more than 54 percent of Gaza’s territory. Within these areas, destruction and demolition continue, along with the establishment of military positions and the enabling of locally backed armed groups to operate and launch attacks against civilians and their property. Humanitarian violations and aid restrictions On the humanitarian level, the center stated that Israel continues to violate the humanitarian protocol, particularly regarding the entry of aid. The agreement stipulated that 600 trucks should enter daily, but actual entry has not exceeded 39 percent of that number. Fuel entry has dropped to approximately 14.9 percent of required levels, severely disrupting essential services such as electricity, water, and sanitation, and deepening the humanitarian crisis.

In this context, the center expressed strong concern over misleading statements by Peace Council coordinator Nikolay Mladenov, who claimed that 602 trucks entered Gaza on Thursday. Field data confirms that the actual number did not exceed 207 trucks. This discrepancy highlights a serious gap between official statements and reality, undermines confidence in international monitoring mechanisms, and raises critical questions about the effectiveness of structures established under the ceasefire agreement. Rafah crossing, health sector collapse, and institutional restrictions The center also reported that Israel continues to obstruct operations at the Rafah crossing and impose arbitrary restrictions on travelers, particularly patients and the wounded. Data indicate that compliance with facilitating movement has not exceeded 25 percent, with the crossing effectively remaining closed and evacuation and treatment efforts severely hindered. This constitutes a clear violation of the right to health and life.

The healthcare sector in Gaza is experiencing rapid collapse due to shortages of medical supplies and restrictions on the entry of equipment and machinery, combined with overwhelming numbers of injured individuals. At the same time, Israeli forces continue demolishing homes and infrastructure, obstructing reconstruction efforts, and preventing the entry of necessary materials.

Additionally, the center noted that Israeli authorities are restricting the work of local and international organizations, preventing some from registering and obstructing the administrative committee responsible for managing civilian affairs in Gaza. This undermines efforts to organize humanitarian response and restore basic living conditions. Call for international action The Gaza Center for Human Rights concluded that these accumulated violations constitute a grave breach of the ceasefire agreement and international humanitarian law, clearly demonstrating a lack of willingness by Israel to uphold its commitments.

The center called on the international community, the United Nations, and the ceasefire mediators to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by taking urgent and effective steps to stop these violations, ensure adequate aid delivery, lift restrictions on Gaza, and provide international protection for civilians.

It also called for independent investigations into documented violations, accountability for those responsible, and serious enforcement of the ceasefire agreement in a way that guarantees the dignity and fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
