The head of the national coalition of Palestinian tribes, clans, and families, Alaa Al-Din Al-Aklouk, on Monday called for the national committee for Gaza administration to be allowed to begin its work in the Gaza Strip, saying there is “no longer any justification” for delaying its deployment following the dissolution of the government emergency committee.
Al-Aklouk’s remarks came after the announcement of the resignation of the government work committee and the completion of preparations to transfer administrative responsibilities to the national committee for Gaza administration, established under the Peace Council and currently based in Cairo, Egypt.
Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference at Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, Al-Aklouk said that “all the obstacles that had previously been cited have now been removed,” urging that the committee be enabled to begin its duties as soon as possible.
He said the coalition had supported the committee since its formation and was prepared to provide whatever assistance was necessary to ensure its success and serve the people of Gaza.
Al-Aklouk added that the coalition is awaiting an official conference announcing the details of the administrative handover and expressed hope that the committee would begin operating immediately.
He also said the outgoing government had “offered this initiative to the tribes and Palestinian factions” by transferring its responsibilities, saying that those who had claimed there were obstacles to the transition “no longer have any justification” following this step.
He stressed the need to empower the national committee to carry out its responsibilities and help alleviate the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.
“The people have suffered enough, and it is time to begin a new phase that will improve their living conditions,” he said.
Following the dissolution of the government committee, Ali Shaath, head of the national committee for Gaza administration, announced that the committee was ready to assume its national responsibilities as soon as it received the necessary resources and authorization.
The national committee for Gaza administration is a transitional technocratic body established under United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 and US President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan. It held its inaugural meeting in Cairo on January 15, 2026.
At that meeting, the committee announced the start of its mandate to oversee Gaza’s civil administration and internal security, while supervising the territory’s stabilization, recovery, and reconstruction until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program.
However, the committee has yet to begin operating from inside the Gaza Strip due to the continued Israeli violations, and neither the committee nor the Israeli authorities have publicly explained why it has not entered Gaza.
The Gaza Strip has suffered widespread devastation as a result of Israel’s genocidal campaign, which began on October 8, 2023. According to Palestinian figures, more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed, over 173,000 injured, and approximately 91% of Gaza’s infrastructure has been destroyed.
