Human rights center: A Palestinian martyr every six hours in Gaza due to Israeli attacks

GAZA, (PIC)

Gaza Center for Human Rights announced that it has documented a progressive increase in the death toll of victims of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, as the documented statistics by the center reveal that the field scene during the first five months of 2026 paints a picture of systematic Israeli genocide that does not differentiate between a fighter and a civilian, nor between a child, an elderly person, and a woman.

The center explained in its statement that the data it documented indicates the martyrdom of 534 citizens since the beginning of the year at a rate of seven martyrs every 48 hours, while the number of the injured during the same period reached 1,782 injured, at a daily injury rate of about 11.42 injured.

The human rights center stressed that these figures reflect a continuous pace of human losses over more than five months, at a relatively fixed daily rate, which reflects the continuation of Israel in committing the crime of genocide against the Palestinians, emphasizing that this escalation constitutes escalating humanitarian pressure on the health sector and societal infrastructure in Gaza.

The center pointed out that during the period extending from January 1 until June 5, 2026, which is a period not exceeding 155 days, multiple forms of acts of genocide were committed, on top of which are mass killings, forced displacement, and starvation, which reveals the scale of the humanitarian disaster under which the besieged Strip reels.

The Gaza center pointed out that while this toll continues day by day, the details of individual crimes that stand behind every figure in these statistics accumulate, for every martyr is a name, an address, and a family wiped out from the civil registry, and every injured person is a wound carrying pain that exceeds what any statistical list can express.

It mentioned that among the latest Israeli attacks at dawn last Thursday, the targeting of four residential apartments, which led to the martyrdom of 10 citizens, including four women and a child, as well as the injury of dozens.

It warned that this continuous Israeli escalation comes at a highly significant timing, as a new round of negotiations between the Palestinian factions and mediators is expected on Saturday regarding stabilizing the ceasefire, with Israel, which systematically violated it since it entered into force on October 10 last year.

The center considered that the timing of these strikes and their pace cannot be separated from the negotiating context, and that Israel employs the daily killing machine and escalating the volume of civilian victims as a tool for political blackmail, seeking to extract concessions on the negotiating table by what it imposes of bloody facts on the ground.

The Gaza Center for Human Rights confirmed that these accumulated numbers of victims, which mean on average the fall of a martyr every six hours, constitute firm evidence of a systematic and grave violation of the provisions of international humanitarian law and the rules of protecting civilians in armed conflicts, especially what was stipulated by the Geneva Conventions and the Additional Protocols regarding discrimination, necessity, and precautions in attack.

The center urged the international community, UN bodies, and international human rights mechanisms to take immediate action to stop this continuous Israeli aggression, to impose independent oversight on the humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, to ensure the protection of civilians, and to hold accountable those responsible for these grave violations documented with names, dates, and coordinates.
