Somali police officers attend management course in Uganda


A total of 67 Somali senior police officers are in Uganda for a three-week management course aimed at rebuilding the their country's police force, Radio Uganda reported on Monday.

Ugandan police spokesman Patrick Onyango was quoted as saying that the Somali officers are attending the workshop which started here on Monday.

He said the course facilitated by Ugandan police with funding from the British government will assess the current security situation in Somalia with a view of developing an implementation plan of action for rebuilding the police force.

The Somali officers headed by Brigadier General Ali Muhammad are to learn from the experiences of Ugandan police in the formulation of a national police in the Horn of Africa nation, he said.
