More Than One Thousand Palestinian Martyrs, Organ-Theft Victims

More than 1,000 organs harvested from the bodies of Palestinian martyrs, had been stolen and smuggled out by Israeli army, a Swedish journalist Donald Bostrom, had claimed according to the Algerian Press Service (APS) report.

Speaking at a conference staged by the National Federation of Algerian Journalists (FJA), at the Press House of Kouba (Algiers), the Swedish journalist said the theft of Palestinian martyrs' organs "began in 1960 and increased after the Intifada."

Journalist Donald Bostrom who published on August 17, 2009 a story entitled "they steal our children's organs," in Aftonbladet newspaper, said organ theft doesn't concern Palestinian martyrs only, but also other foreign people killed in Palestine.

The investigation into organ theft has been launched following stories gathered by a UN group in Palestine about savage handling of Palestinian martyrs' dead bodies by the Israeli army.

Donald Bostrom said he received death threats by phone and e-mail.

The representative of Palestine's Embassy in Algiers, Mohamed Chekchek, said the horrors relating to Israeli army's treatment of Palestinian martyrs' dead bodies "are only a drop in the ocean."

The representative of the National Consultative Commission for Human Rights Promotion and Protection, Hassan Khaldoun, urged civil society organizations in Algeria to support journalist Bostrom against the death threats he is receiving.

Expressing support to the Palestinian cause, the Swedish journalist said he works with the Algerian authorities for the printing of additional copies of his documentary book entitled "Inshallah," published in 2001.

The book contains about 200 photos taken in Palestine about the daily sufferings of the Palestinian population under the Israeli occupation.
