President Hugo Chavez called the Israeli occupation government foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, a "mafia boss" in response to his accusations that the non-Muslim Venezuelan leader was involved in "radical branches of Islam."
Chavez' statement echoed similar charges from Israel's attorney general, who announced last week that Lieberman would likely be indicted on a number of charges.
"He's on trial there [in Israel] for money laundering," Chavez noted in a speech on Thursday,
On Sunday, Israeli police said their investigation into Lieberman's dealings was "practically over," and that there exists a sufficient body of evidence to indict Lieberman on bribery, fraud, money laundering and obstruction of justice charges.
But Chavez was responding to charges the ultranationalist foreign minister made while in South America last week, when he all but charged that the Venezuelan president was a terrorist, or at least cooperated with "radical branches of Islam" and anti-Semitism. Chavez also hosts Lebanese terrorists in his country, Lieberman declared.
Venezuela's Foreign Ministry dismissed the allegations as ludicrous.
"I will not speak about intelligence specifics, but we have enough to be concerned about the collaboration between radical branches of Islam and Hugo Chavez," El Tiempo quoted Lieberman as saying. "Today we see the closeness between Chavez and the Iranians."
(Israeli occupation government leaders from various Zionist political parties have been inciting against Iran and anyone close to it since the Iranians have insisted on continuing their nuclear program. Israeli Zionists have been furious for the possibility of losing their monopoly over possession of nuclear weapons in the world oil-richest region. They want Iran to be as weak as possible so it can be invaded and its oil resources can be looted).
