(somaliNet) Troops with battlewagons from self styled republic of Somaliland in north of Somalia are reported to have defected into semi-autonomous regional Puntland in northeast of Somalia on Thursday.
Sources say unspecified number of vehicles with 40 soldiers arrived in Garowe, capital of Puntland.
It is clear why these soldiers ran away into Puntland.
The troops who crossed the border village of Ari-Adeye between Puntland and Somaliland have today reached Garowe town.
It is the largest number of troops from Somaliland escaping into Puntland. No comments yet from Somaliland authorities on the defection of its troops.
The two regional states have long territorial dispute over Sool and Sanaag regions that are under control of Puntland.
