Leaders of Djibouti and Somalia discuss regional Security

The Djibouti president, Ismail Omar Geele discussed regional security and Somali current affaires with his counterpart Somalia president, Abdillahi Yusuf Ahmed in his Presidential Palace.

Arrived Wednesday morning at Djibouti, the President somalien stated on the perron of the presidential palate at his exit of the interview with president Ismaïl Omar Guelleh which its visit lay within the scope of the friendly relations and the permanent contacts between the two countries. Mr. Abdillahi Yusuf in addition indicated to have found a solution to the divergences between the Executive and the Legislature somaliens. It was agreed that the first meeting of the Parliament somalien will be held in Baidoa.

The agreement was obtained during the meetings of last weekend in Nairobi between the president, the Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi and their rival, the president of the Parliament somalien Charif Hassan Sheik Aden, which qualified this decision "of historical opportunity" to finish some with chaos that Somalia knew since 1991.

Until March 2005, the Parliament somalien was in exile and met in Nairobi because of the insecurity reigning in Somalia. This agreement is a compromise between the positions of MISTERS Ahmed and Gedi, which wished for their part that the seat of the Parliament be in reigning Jowhar because of the insecurity with Mogadiscio, and their rivals who insisted that the Parliament sits in the capital. January 5, Abdulahi and Aden had signed an agreement of reconciliation, envisaging the meeting of the 275 members of the Parliament of transition in a locality which remained to be determined.

President Somalien is accompanied in addition to his wife, of a strong delegation in particular including four ministers of which that of Defense and a member of Parliament. Coming from Addis Ababa, the delegation which remained 24 hours in Djibouti, will go to Somalia.
