GAROWE, Somalia, July 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- President Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed today announced that Ms. Hibo Mohamed Elmi has been appointed to the role of Public Relations Special Advisor of the Somali Presidency. In this role, Elmi will work with the president and his key representatives to raise public awareness of the Somali Transitional Federal Government and orchestrate public relations programs to effectively communicate with analysts and the media.
President Abdulahi Yusuf Ahmed remarked, "Effective immediately, I've asked Ms. Elmi to execute an outreach campaign on behalf of the Somali Government. I'm pleased to have Hibo lead our public awareness efforts. Her in-depth understanding of the communications discipline will be instrumental in the dissemination of our strategic direction and progress toward establishing peace, democracy, and good governance in our homeland."
Based in Boston, Mass., Elmi is a seasoned communications professional with over eight years of experience raising public awareness for top global organizations in the private sector such as EMC Corporation, State Street Global Advisors, and Putnam Investments. In addition, Elmi is an active member of the Somali community in the U.S. where she has advocated for social services agencies serving Somali nationals in the New England area.

Elmi holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Emmanuel College and is slated to complete a Master of Arts in Communication from Emerson College in a few months.
