The United Nation Security Council is slated to hold a session today upon a request set forth by the Arab league to discuss the ongoing construction of the apartheid wall by Israel in occupied East Jerusalem.
The session comes out following the Israeli government approval in 10th July to re-route the apartheid wall around east Jerusalem. The wall will cut off the eastern section of the city, inhabited with 55,000 out of 230,000 Palestinians in the city.
Diplomats said that the Security Council agreed to hold a discussion as the issues set forth, not limited to the apartheid wall.
At the same time, Jean Ping, President of the United Nations General Assembly of 191 state members will examine an Arab request to hold a session dedicated to the apartheid wall ahead of the world summit on the reform of the UN slated in next Mid September.
