Hezbollah shells Israeli troops in south Lebanon

Hezbollah shelled mortar bombs on Israeli troops in a disputed part of the south Lebanon border Wednesday, according to Lebanese security officials and Hezbollah's Al Manar TV channel.

According to Lebanese officials and the television channel, the resistance fighters attacked three Israeli positions in the disputed region of the Shebaa Farms, an area where the borders of Lebanon, Syria and Israel meet.

Al Manar reported that the Israeli forces responded by shelling the Hezbollah fighters near the town of Kfar Chouba in the vicinity of the Shebaa Farms.

The Israeli Occupation Force declined to comment.

The latest strike is the first serious incident on the border for over a month.

The Shebaa Farms has become the focus of Hezbollah attacks on Israeli forces since the Jewish state withdrew its troops from southern Lebanon in 2000.
