Syria welcomes visit of China's fm next month

Syria welcomed on Tuesday the upcoming visit scheduled to Syria next month of China's Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and exchanged view point over China's perception of the UN Security Council reform with Chinese represantative.

In a meeting with special representative of China's Foreign Minister, Foreign Minister Farouq al-Sharaa said "we welcome the upcoming visit of China's Foreign Minister Li Xhaoxing to Syria next month." "Syria sees that any reform to the UN Security Council must aim at boosting the international organization credibility and the achievement of just representation to member states in the United Nations," Sharaa said.

Sharaa was handed a letter from his Chinese counterpart on China's view point on UN Security Council reform.

Meantime, China underlined today support and backing to the Arab states right to get a permanent seat to the UN Security Council.

This has come in a letter handed to Assistant Arab League Secretary General for political affaires Ahmed Ben Helli when received representative of China's FM who visited Egypt this morning.

China stressed in the letter keenness on coordinating position with the Arab states over the issue of the UN Security Council Reform as well the UN in addition to the membership expansion.

China said she advocates the Arab states stances to get a seat to the UN Security Council according to any of the presented suggestions over the council representation noting that it should not be to impose a certain view point to the interest of a certain state at the expense of the third world countries.
