Historic minaret of Samera used by US army bombarded


Attacks continued on Friday in various parts of Iraq with several Iraqis killed and injured. Five Iraqis were killed including a high ranking police officer in Deyali governorate to the north east of Baghdad.

The police colonel Hatim Rasheed and his assistant were killed at the hands of gunmen in Bulldozers town near Baqouba city to the north east of Baghdad.

In Samera to the north of the capital, gunmen bombarded the archeological minaret of Samera which is 52 meters height. The snipers in the American army have been using the minaret for a long time.

A bomb explosion before the faculty of law in the downtown of Karkouk city to the north of Baghdad resulted in killing one Iraqi and injuring other four. The police said that the explosive targeted a military vehicle.

In al-Dalou'ya city to the north of Baghdad ( 70 km), gunmen attacked a vehicle for the Iraqi army in al-Zaweyah area to the north of the city and this resulted in killing one Iraqi soldier and arresting one gunman during the clashes.

A bomb explosion targeting an American vehicle in al-Dajil area to the north of Baghdad resulted in killing one person and injuring another.

A joint position for the Iraqi and American army in al-Mushahada area, 30 Km to the north of Baghdad on Thursday midnight, was bombarded by five mortars shelling that resulted in killing one Iraqi soldier.

In al-Hella to the south of Baghdad, the Polish forces deployed there arrested 10 persons wearing the uniforms of the Iraqi army and driving a Japanese made military car.

During the 24 past hours, the American army announced the killing of four of its soldiers in various attacks.

Meantime, each of the American and British defense departments said March was a month of decrease in human losses in the American and coalition forces.
