Israeli court sentences Palestinian child to nine months in jail

An Israeli military court sentenced on Thursday Nasri Ibrahim Joda, a 16-year-old child to nine months in jails and about one thousand dollars fine.

Joda, a resident of the Ezza refugee camp near Bethlehem, is now held at the Talmund jail along with 83 minors.

Palestinian youths held in Israeli jails are in desperate need of winter clothes and blankets, they also suffer strip searches and visit deprivation.

According to reports of legal institutions, Israel has in its jails about 350 Palestinian minors, including 15 girls.

PA police attacked

On Wednesday, PA policemen, currently deployed in the Gaza Strip near the Tufah crossing, were attacked by the Israeli settlers, according to Israeli media reports.

Israeli sources said that hundreds of settlers gathered Wednesday at the crossing near Neveh Dekhalim settlement, protesting the deployment of Palestinian security men.

The sources added that Israeli settlers caused great damages to PA police vehicles.

The settlers, moreover, tried to suspend the holding of a PA-Israel meeting, during which they will decide to deploying more PA forces south of the Strip.

Also Wednesday, the Israeli radio said that the ministry of industry and trade was considering moving a number of factories from the Erez industrial area north of the Strip to a number of jails.

Israeli prison authority announced that 50 factories were currently operating in its jails and employing about 1,870 prisoners.
