An employee of the city of Nashville who forwarded an e-mail containing a 'quiz' mocking U.S. airport screening policies is facing possible disciplinary action.

The quiz is multi-choice and asks one to identify who was responsible for 12 well known terror attacks. In each case the answer was obviously a "male extremist between the age of 17 and 40" as the other options were figures such as Elvis and Mr.Rogers.

Lori Lazo-Bell, an employee of the Nashville's finance department has written a letter apologising for forwarding the e-mail to several people. However, the city has stated that by forwarding the e-mail, Lazo-Bell violated its e-mail policy barring the sending of offensive material.

Finance Director David Manning said Lazo-Bell used "poor judgment" forwarding "such an inappropriate message. Unfortunately, it's not that unusual because people make bad judgments sometimes about the way in which they use e-mail. It happens everywhere, unfortunately. That's life. The issue is what you learn from it and how you react from it.''

The e-mail had been received by one man who incensed with its content sent a copy to the mayor's office and to several Nashville news media.

Manning has yet to make a decision on what action will be taken against Lazo-Bell but has called in the Human Resources and Law Departments over disciplinary options.

Lazo-Bell has issued a written apology to Manning and her division supervisor, Ken Maynard, and copied it to the mayor Bill Purcell. She has said that she didn’t pay much attention to the content of the e-mail.

''It has never been my nature to stereotype groups,'' her letter says, ''I have always and will always relate to others as another human being without regard to age, color, economic status or nationality.''
