An Egyptian party source said yesterday that the ruling national party will nominate President Hosni Mubarak officially for a fifth term of office.

The party's assistant secretary general and the organization's secretary Kamal al-Chazli said that submitting nomination to the parliament will be in May while it will be out into general referendum in September this year.

According to the Egyptian constitution, one third of the members of the people's assembly proposes one candidate at least for the post of the presidency while the parliament nominates the candidate with the majority of two thirds of its members so as to be able to have access to the referendum.

Worthy mentioning that three intellectuals had announced nomination of themselves for the post. They are Muhammad Fareed Hasanin, Nawal al-Sadawi and Saad Eddien Ibrahim, but it is ruled out that they will get the support of one third of the parliament members.

Worthy mentioning Mubarak (76 year old) has been ruling Egypt since 23 years. He was re-elected for four new term of offices, each is 6 year time. This was following the assassination of his predecessor Anwar al-Sadat in an official occasion at the hands of armed Islamists.
