The organization of the Muslim people of Arakan in Burma (Myanmar) said that the Burmese border guards had tortured a Muslim teacher, Sayed Ahmad, 35, to death in prison.
Sayed Ahmad is from the Dodan village in Mojindaw region. He was the Director of the Academic Affairs at the Tauhid School and he was arrested from inside the school, last April, along with three other Muslims.
The four Brumese Muslims have been allegedly accused of having links with armed groups, and opposing the government.
The guards reportedly tortured them to extract information.
Sayed Ahamd died as a result of the torture during interrogations and his mutilated body was handed over to his relatives, while the other three were released.
The organization of the Arakan Muslims also stated that this is one of the crimes committed by the ruling military junta against the Muslims in Burma. They added that there is a total lack of law and order.
The organization also called upon human rights organizations and institutions to denounce these criminal acts.
